Mollie's First Day of Pre-K

Monday, October 27, 2014

While she just moved to a new classroom down the hall, this year, Mollie started PreK. Unlike the flexible days at preschool, she has to be in class by 8 AM each day, had to bring school supplies and often carries a back pack. Its a nice intro to "real" school.

Clara's 1st Birthday

As a new walker, Clara was still a little bit unsteady on her feet, and took a spill the day before her party resulting in a pretty pronounced black eye. Even still, she loved her first birthday, especially the cupcake eating part the party! After the family celebration down in Florida, we had a small party with our closest friends here in Atlanta.

Grandpa Eddie's 90th Birthday

We were so lucky to take a family trip to Florida to celebrate Grandpa Eddie's 90th birthday, Clara's 1st Birthday and Father's Day all together.

Mollie's 1st Dance Recital

Mollie had a blast at her first recital! She did a lot more waving at mommy and Grandma than she did dancing, but we loved seeing her up there with her friends!

Clara @ 8 Months

At 8 Months:

  • Clara went from scooting backwards to scooting forward, to army crawling, and eventually crawling!
  • Started standing up in her crib (we quickly lowered her mattress)
  • Still has no teeth, but is eating more finger foods and mashing things with her gums
  • Started doing the "more" sign when she is eating and wants more food
Here are some photos of both girls:

Clara @ 7 Months

At 7 Months, Clara is:
  • rolling all over the place. The minute you put her on her back she immediately flips, making diaper changing a challenge
  • going from sitting to crawling position and rocking on hands and knees. She can scoot around in a circle, but no forward movement  yet.
  • Doing lots of squealing and more cooing
  • pulling up a little bit, if the circumstances are just right (a toy she wants is up on a nearby surface, like a kid chair, that is just the right height for her to pull on).
Here are some photos of both girls, including Mollie's day at the Nutcracker with her friends from school:

Clara 6 Months

At 6 months, Clara is

  • Sitting up on her own
  • Eating a little bit of solid food. So far she has tried rice cereal, avocado, peas, squash, and bananas.
  • Rolling from back to tummy
  • Grabbing at everything in sight, picking up toys, and putting everything in her mouth
  • Loves when you spell her name to her (which Mollie loves to do when Clara is fussing)
  • Squeals when she is happy
  • Has two teeth just under the surface. We hope they pop through very soon.
